Missing Machine
Lyrics & lore
Hi angels,
Thank you for loving the song I never thought I would release (and omg if you’re here and haven’t heard it I know you’ll like the next 3 ish minutes of your life!! click here to listen
If you’re familiar with my previous work you’ll know I tend to lean towards a more poetic style of lyricism… this is a song that really changed my way of writing and relating my life to music. It’s vulnerable in a totally different way to my other songs.
It came to me in the summer of 2025 when I was working my ASS off waitressing to save up to finally move out of my parents house. Someone very close to me then, and still now, was away living a very different life to me. It’s strange being close to someone who has it incredibly easy & has found success in a way you only dream of.
I know some of you, especially the artists among you, will relate to this feeling. I hope you and I one day find rest in our ambition and find the equilibrium between love, art & happiness.
woah.
This artwork was shot by my cousin Finlay on a trip visiting family in Antwerp. I love the composition of it. It’s warm but somehow lonely.
Lyrics
Verse 1
He’s in LA
And I’m waiting tables again
Polishing Plates.. Telling myself I’ll be ok
What’s the weather like in Malibu?
I heard it’s great
Better than here
Table 42 just spilt their wine on my shoes, God
Chorus
I’m a missing machine
Cogs always whirring, asking
When will you be back with me?
Your missing machine
Verse 2
I wish I had nothing to do
Nothing at all
Just space to fall
More and more in love with you
Bit more time for holding too
But there’s a part of me that’s always mad
Scared i wont make it like you have
Dying for my moment to come
He says all it takes is one song
Chorus
I’m a missing machine
Cogs always whirring, asking
When will you be back with me?
I’m a missing machine
Whatever that means
A missing machine
A disappointment machine
Mm
Your Missing Machine
Thank you for being here as always. Now you know all the lyrics you better sing along with me on tour!!
With love,
Your Missing Machine

Hi Ormella! This song suddenly appeared to me while scrolling on insta…and I’m so glad it did. Your voice, the composition, the lyrics… it’s all very enchanting that it led me to search your other work. Now got the Lamb and the Shepherd on repeat too.
I’m so glad I found your music and I hope you keep making more like Missing Machine. You’ve gained a fan. 💗
Please keep doing what you do :) Fingers crossed on a full album someday
Spotify just recommended me this track and I have never heard your music before, but I’m so grateful now. Because this is magic
